Bandai Plans For Kurokami To Be Company's First Blu-ray Title

Bandai made several announcements at this year’s Otakon, one of the biggest announcement is their first Blu-ray title, Kurokami. The company plans to distribute Kurokami on DVD and Blu-ray format. Kurokami is based on Black God published by Yen Press.

The other announcements include Bandai working with Fathom Events to show the Eureka Seven movie, Eureka Seven good night, sleep tight, young lovers, in 432 theaters for one night only – September 24th. Tickets for the movie will go on sale beginning August 21st and you can purchase tickets at Fathom Events’ Website.

Finally, Bandai clarified some details concerning Kannagi. The DVD that’s available at Amazon.com and Right Stuf will be a English-subbed version only; there will be no English-dubbed version. Once the DVD becomes available in mass market retailers (i.e. retail stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.), the price will likely be higher since the MSRP will be higher.

Tamagotchi TV Anime Premiering In October

Tamagotchi TV Anime Premiering In October

According to Anime News Network, there will be another Tamagotchi television anime series to premiere in Japan in October. This isn’t the first time that the Tamagotchi franchise has its own television series.

Bandai has been streaming Saikō! Tamagotchi in seven different languages via YouTube since December. Saikō! Tamagotchi originally aired in Japan in 2007 to 2008.

Here’s what else ANN wrote:

According to the sheet, the new television anime series will simply be called Tamagotchi. It will premiere at the beginning of October, but the timeslot has not been determined. Each episode will have two 15-minute, self-contained stories. The stories will follow the daily lives of the Tamagotchi and feature new characters and settings. Various new toys aimed at girls are slated to also appear in October, followed by a new software for the Nintendo DS game console in November. That same month, the Japanese McDonald’s fast-food restaurant chain will offer Tamagotchi Happy Sets, which are the equivalent of Happy Meals in North America.

Looks like the Tamagotchi franchise is trying to make a comeback. How far will the franchise go this time?
